About
About the Author:
Sara M. Blackard writes books, wrangles kids, and lives in Alaska, which, honestly, is great training for surviving perimenopause. Both involve long stretches of darkness and never knowing what's coming next.
Before last year, her entire knowledge of menopause was watching her aunt strip off her shirt in the middle of Christmas dinner and launch herself into a snow drift. Turns out there's more to it than that. She hopes that the more women find the courage to say the quiet parts out loud, the fewer will have to go through them alone.
About the Illustrator:
Betsy Blackard is an award-winning soft pastelist in Western Colorado with a passion for landscapes. But when her daughter-in-love asked her to illustrate a poetry collection about the chaos of perimenopause, she dusted off her pencils and learned a whole new technique. She's encouraged by the growing movement in women's health and hopes the next generation of women won't have to navigate it as blindly as hers did.
